WOOD FLOOR CARE INSTRUCTIONS
POLYURETHANE, GLITSA, WATERBORNE, MOISTURE CURE FINISHES
MOVING OF No furniture for 24-36 hours. Place furniture down, do not scoot or
FURNITURE slide. Curing of the floor takes thirty days to cure good and hard.
Take extra care for the first days until cured. When moving a refrigerator
onto finished floor, use quarter inch plywood or masonite to protect floor.
Heavy cardboard does not always allow enough protection.
AREA RUGS No area rugs or throw rugs for one month to allow floor to cure in all
areas. Air flow helps the curing process.
FLOOR Combes Wood Floors has floor protectors available for wooden chair
PROTECTORS legs to protect the wood flooring from being scratched. Other brands are
available at your local hardware store.
SWEEPING For maximum life and wearability of floor finish, keep floor clean
of particles that can scratch floors such as sand, gravel, etc. This can
be accomplished by daily sweeping with floor brush sweeper attachment,
dust mopping, or broom sweeping.
MOPPING For easy, safe maintenance of your wood floor, we have available the
Bona Wood Floor Wipe Brand Hardwood Floor Cleaning Kit. If you
choose not to purchase a wood floor cleaning kit, you may use a
vinegar/water solution (1/4 cup vinegar to 1 cup lukewarm water).
DO NOT ALLOW WATER TO STAND ON FLOOR AND USE AS LITTLE WATER
AS POSSIBLE.
WATER AND NEVER use excessive amounts of water on wood floors. Even though
WOOD urethane products are very water resistant, water can seep into open
cracks, causing the finish to break loose from the wood, resulting in
white spots, chipping, or peeling. Remember, water is an enemy of
wood flooring, do not use excessive amounts.
SEASONAL In order to minimize seasonal movement in your wood floor, it is
CRACKING important to maintain the relative humidity within your home at
45% to 55%. Too much moisture will cause the floor to swell and the
boards to cup. Too little moisture in the air will dry out the boards
causing them to shrink, creating cracks between the boars. Expect
some seasonal movement with your wood floor.
